St. Dymphna was fourteen years old when she consecrated herself to Christ and took a vow of chastity. When her mother died, her father's mental health deteriorated. Damon missed his wife greatly and decided he would marry Dymphna since she looked just like his wife. When Dymphna heard of this she ran away with the help of a priest. She was able to hide from her father, and during this time she helped build a hospital and schools. Sadly her father found her and killed her because she would not marry him.
